After four betas, Apple has launched the macOS 12.4 release candidate for developers and public testers. The release comes with support for the latest Studio Display webcam patch beta as well as a new feature to help manage podcasts on Mac.
macOS 12.4 RC is now available via OTA for developers and public testers already enrolled in the beta and will soon be available on Apple developer website and public beta website. Today’s beta comes with build number 21F79.
We didn’t see much new in the first macOS 12.4 beta, but Apple included a disclaimer that the Universal Control feature will require a Mac to be on the latest beta if an iPad is running iPadOS 15.5.
Then, with the third macOS 12.4 beta, Apple released the first Apple Studio Display beta with a webcam fix:
Now, with macOS 12.4 RC, Apple will separate the latest Studio Display update from the macOS release, but it’s still in beta.
Another change in macOS 12.4 RC is a new setting in the Podcasts app to limit the number of episodes stored and automatically delete old content.
Notes on macOS 12.4 RC:
- Apple Podcasts includes a new setting to limit episodes stored on your Mac and automatically delete older ones
- Support for Studio Display firmware update 15.5, available as a separate update, refines camera tuning, including improved noise reduction, contrast, and framing
