Camera not working on Zoom in Windows 11/10

1]Check if you have authorized Zoom to access your camera

Windows 11/10 operating systems have an option to block camera access for selected apps. If you block access to the camera for particular apps, those apps will no longer be able to use your camera. Therefore, if your camera is not working on Zoom, you should first check the camera access for the Zoom app.

The steps to verify camera access for Zoom are different for Windows 11 and Windows 10 computers. Below we have explained the instructions for Windows 11 and Windows 10 separately.

Windows 11 users should follow the instructions below:

  1. Right click on the The start menu and select Settings.
  2. To select Privacy and Security on the left side.
  3. Scroll down the Privacy & Security page until you find the Application permissions section.
  4. Click now Camera and activate the button next to Access to the camera (available at top right).
  5. Scroll down and enable the toggle button next to the Zoom app. If the Zoom app is listed under the Allow desktop apps to access your camera section, enable the toggle switch next to it (see screenshot above).

If you are a Windows 10 user, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open Settings, then select Private life.
  2. Select the Camera category on the left side.
  3. turn it on Allow apps to access your camera button. Scroll down and see if the Zoom Meetings the app is listed there. If yes, activate the button next to it.
  4. Now scroll down and enable the Allow desktop apps to access your camera button.

Now check if you can use your camera.

2]Check if you have selected the correct camera in Zoom

If you have an external webcam connected to your laptop, it must be selected in Zoom, otherwise you will not be able to use your camera during Zoom meetings.

  1. Launch the Zoom app and select Settings.
  2. Select the Video category in the left pane.
  3. Now click on the Camera drop-down menu and select your external camera. After that, Zoom will turn on your camera to show you the preview.

3]Roll back your camera driver

Some users said that rolling back their camera drivers helped them fix the problem. You can also try this fix. Check if the Rollback Driver option is available in Device Manager. If so, roll back your camera driver.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Launch it To run control box by pressing Win + R keys and type devmgmt.msc. Click OK.
  2. In the Device Manager, expand the Cameras node.
  3. Right click on your camera driver and select Properties.
  4. Select the Driver and see if the back button is clickable or not. If yes, click on it to restore your driver.

4]Update or reinstall your camera driver

If the above solutions do not solve your problem, your camera driver might be corrupted. In this case, updating or reinstalling your camera driver may resolve the issue.

The following instructions will help you update your camera driver:

  1. Right click on the The start menu and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Cameras node.
  3. Right click on your camera driver and select Update driver.
  4. Now select the Automatic driver search option.

Wait for Windows to install the latest version of the camera driver. After updating the driver, check the camera is working on Zoom or not.
