Windows 10 – Integer Software Mon, 21 Jun 2021 23:51:31 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Windows 10 – Integer Software 32 32 Windows 11: leaks, release date and all the clues Microsoft has dropped so far Mon, 21 Jun 2021 23:32:38 +0000

We don’t yet know what the big Windows 10 overhaul will look like, but we’ve heard rumors.

Microsoft may have just rolled out the latest version of the Windows 10 operating system, the Windows 10 May 2021 Update (also known as version 21H1), but a major new version is in the works. Microsoft will unveil “the next generation of windows“at a virtual event, promising big changes to the long-standing operating system – and a possible renaming of Windows 11.

At the Microsoft Build Developer Conference on May 25, CEO Satya Nadella said Microsoft is planning “one of the most significant Windows updates of the past decade,” confirming rumors of a major overhaul on the horizon for the 1.3 billion OS users in 2021. And in mid-June, Microsoft quietly announced that it Windows 10 end of support in 2025, fueling rumors that the new redesign could be called Windows 11. (Here is every change we hope to see in Windows 11, if that happens.)

That’s what we know so far about the next major Windows update, including potential release dates, new features, and leaks, and whether it’s actually going to be called Windows 11. This story will be set. updated as we learn more.

What new features will the Windows redesign include?

The update, which would be codenamed Sun Valley, could bring a redesigned Start menu, action center, file explorer, and Taskbar, with a more modern look and new features, according to a Windows Central Report. The leaked images were first posted on Chinese Baidu Site and picked up by The edge show off a more Mac interface, with a new Start menu, welcome screen and start-up sound.

Another factor: Microsoft said its Windows 10X operating system, designed for dual screen devices like the Duo of surfaces and the Neo surface, will not actually be published. Instead, Microsoft will build parts of this technology in other parts of Windows and the company’s products, according to a blog post in May.

The Windows Central report says it’s likely that some of the feature updates will be based on the same experiences found in Windows 10X, but customized for the desktop.

The Windows 10 redesign could see more changes to the taskbar, which recently added a ‘news and interests’ feature.

When will Microsoft release the next version of Windows?

We’re likely to know when the Big Windows Update will arrive. Microsoft’s Windows 10 event Thursday, June 24. CNET’s sister site ZDNet has already reported that it is targeted for the second half of the year, while Windows Central reported that it will arrive around the holiday season.

Microsoft said it has no further information to share at this time.

Will the new update be called Windows 11?

With the release of Windows 10 in 2015, Microsoft declared that it would be “the last version of Windows” – so it seemed unlikely that it would be called Windows 11. But now that Microsoft has officially announced that it would end support for Windows. 10 in 2025, a switch to Windows 11 – or some other moniker – seems more likely. Nadella called it “the next generation of Windows” in her opening speech at Microsoft Build.

The Verge also noted that the event invitation includes a logo and shadow that looks like number 11, and that the event takes place at 11 a.m. ET, which isn’t typical for Seattle-based Microsoft.

Naturally, we won’t know until Microsoft officially announces the update.

How-to: don’t programs open “stubbornly” on Windows 10? Discover 5 solutions to the problem Fri, 18 Jun 2021 20:05:23 +0000

While many users do not feel, in the vast majority of cases, that there are major “pitfalls” in their Windows experience, sometimes there are frustrating issues where the solution does not seem obvious.

Let’s say you turn on your computer to start another day of work. However, when you try to use a certain program, it “refuses” to open it no matter how many times you click its icon. No one likes to be in such a situation: whether at work or abroad.

If you have ever performed a scan with the antivirus software that you have installed on your device and the possibility of certain malware infection is out of the equation, if you restart your computer, or even if you uninstall and reinstall the application in question and the problem persists, there are a few solutions you can try to reopen your programs.

Click on the images to see 5 ways to open “annoying” programs in Windows 10

Follow these steps:

1 – If the problem occurs with an app that you downloaded from the Microsoft Store, your best bet is to check if it is up to date. To do this, open the Microsoft Store, click Downloads & Updates, and then click Get Updates, which will automatically update the apps. Moreover, when you open the section, you will immediately be able to see which apps are available with updates.

2 – Regarding updates, checking if Windows 10 is up to date can also be helpful in solving the problem. To make sure your system is up to date, go to “Updates & Security” in the Windows Settings menu. If Windows Update is not “up to date”, your best bet is to update it.

3 – Try to check if the Windows Update service is running or not. To do this, you will first need to press the Windows key and R, to open the Run function, type services.msc in the search bar and then click Search.

4 – Scroll through the list of services until you find “Windows Update”. If you have no indication that it is running, right click on the option and select “Start.”

5 – You can also use Windows tools to troubleshoot issues with apps you downloaded from Microsoft Store. In the Updates and security section of Windows settings, go to Troubleshoot and select the Additional troubleshooting option.

6 – Once there, click on Windows Store Apps. Select the Run troubleshooting option by following the on-screen instructions.

7 – Have you tried all of the above options, but the programs still refuse to open? You should not rule out the possibility of some corrupted files. Open a command prompt, run it as administrator, and type sfc / scanow. Through this process, the system will scan the drive to identify corrupt files and attempt to recover them and provide a summary of all activities at the end.

How to enable or disable file encryption in Windows 10 (NTFS EFS) Fri, 18 Jun 2021 19:42:49 +0000

Although Windows has strong built-in security, it is very difficult to protect a computer from a physical attack in person. One solution, however, is Windows 10 File Encryption, also known as File System Encryption (EFS).

Windows 10 EFS allows easy encryption and decryption of files on NTSF drives in your account using proven algorithms. Jargon aside, this means that anyone who tries to access your files and doesn’t have the encryption key (password) sees only strings of letters and numbers.

Unfortunately, some people find that the Encrypt content to secure data option is grayed out. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to enable EFS on your PC to fix it, as well as how to remove the EFS encryption option if you need to. We will show you two methods to enable or disable EFS NTSF: Group Policy Editor and a registry file. Let’s start:

How to enable or remove EFS NTFS file encryption in Windows 10 Local Group Policy Editor

If you have Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education, the easiest way to enable EFS is to use the Local Group Policy Editor. This way you get a nice and understandable user interface and full transparency about the changes you make. If you have Windows 10 Home, check out the registry section below. Otherwise, follow here:

  1. Open the local group policy editor

hurry Start and type “Modify group policy”. Click on the top result.

  2. Go to EFS NTFS section and open Windows 10 encryption policy

In the sidebar of the Local Group Policy Editor, find the “File system” folder and click “NTFS”. In your main pane, you should see a parameter called “Do not allow encryption on all NTFS volumes”. Double click on it.

  3. Enable or remove EFS NTSF encryption

In the policy, choose “Not configured”, “Enabled”, to “Disabled”. Here’s what each option is for:

    Option A function
Enabled Remove optional EFS encryption on all NTFS drives
Deactivated Enable optional EFS NTFS encryption on all drives
Not configured Follow system default settings

hurry Okay once you have made your selection and restart your PC to apply the changes.

How to enable or disable NTFS file encryption using a REG file

If you don’t have Windows 10 Pro, don’t worry, you can still turn on the EFS service. However, you will need to make some changes to your registry. Make sure to back up your registry before proceeding just to be safe.

We’ll walk you through the process manually for full transparency, but you can also check out the section below for a .REG file if you’re in a rush. Let’s start:

  1. Open Regedit

hurry “Windows + R” to open the Run dialog box and type “Regdit”. Click it “OKAY” button to open the registry editor.

  2. Go to the Policies key and create a new DWORD

In the Registry Editor search bar, paste the following:

In the main pane, right-click on any empty space and choose “New> DWORD value (32 bits)”. Name the DWORD NtfsDisableEncryption, taking care to copy the capitals exactly.

  3. Change value data to enable or disable Windows file encryption

Change the value data to enable or disable NTFS EFS encryption, setting it to 1 to remove the EFS option and to 0 to enable it. hurry “OKAY” when you are done.

How to enable or disable Windows file encryption via .REG download

To make the registry editing process easier and safer, we have created a .REG file. You can simply double click on it to disable or enable EFS for your system. You can download the .zip file here.

Once the download is complete, follow these steps:

  1. Unzip the file

Right click on the .zip file and select “Extract all …” from the drop-down menu.

  2. Navigate to the extraction location and click “Extract”

  3. Double click on the Disable or Enable NTFS registry key

  4. Press “Yes” in the warning dialog

  5. Click “OK” and restart your PC

If you want to revert to your original setting at any time, just double-click on the other registry key and repeat the process. We recommend that you keep both .reg files in a safe place in case you ever want to change the setting again.

That concludes this Windows 10 File Encryption tutorial. You can follow our guide to using NTFS encryption to check if “Encrypt content to secure data” is still grayed out and learn more. You can also take a look at our BitLocker Encryption guide and decide which method is best for you.

How to restore the ultimate power plan in Windows 10 and improve performance Mon, 14 Jun 2021 19:33:45 +0000

Your choice of power plans in Windows 10 is often limited. However, you can restore these power plan options and improve system performance if you know the correct codes.

Image: grape / Shutterstock

Based on the default and recommended settings in Microsoft Windows 10, your system will attempt to balance power and performance at what it considers to be optimal levels. For many users, operating under normal conditions, this balance works well and should be left as is. However, sometimes you may want to skip the balancing protocols and get as much power and performance from your system as possible.

SEE: 83 Excel Tips Every User Should Master (TechRepublic)

The default and recommended balanced power plan is one of the many preconfigured power plans available in Windows 10. Unfortunately, the ability to choose one of the other power plans is often limited depending on your PC. Laptops, for example, can only offer users the balanced plan option. However, for those of you looking to maximize PC performance, there is an Ultimate Power Plan, but it’s hidden behind a secret code.

This tutorial shows you how to restore and implement the Ultimate Power Plan in Windows 10 to boost your PC performance when you need it.

Restore the Ultimate Power Plan in Windows 10

To understand which Windows 10 power plans we’re talking about, click the Start button, select Settings (gear icon), and then select System. Scroll down the left navigation bar and select Power & Sleep. Scroll to the right page of this screen and click the Additional Power Settings link to view the screen displayed in Figure A.

Figure A

As you can see the only power plan option available on my new laptop is balanced.

To add the Ultimate power plan option, right-click the Start button and select Windows Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin), if enabled.

Type or copy and paste this command into the prompt as shown in Number B then press the Enter key.

Ultimate Power Plan:
powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61

Number B

While the Command Prompt is open, you might want to add the rest of the power plan options:

High performance power plan:
powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c

Penergy saving power plan:
powercfg -duplicatescheme a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a

Close the command prompt when you are done.

Now when you return to the Power Options Control Panel (Figure A), you can click the down arrow next to Show additional options to see other power plans as shown in Figure C.

Figure C

Be careful when choosing to run on the Ultimate power plan, especially if you are using a laptop on its battery. Windows 10’s normal steps to conserve battery power will be completely disabled. A battery that normally lasts four hours can barely reach two hours.

SEE: Windows 10: Lists of Voice Commands for Speech Recognition and Dictation (Free PDF) (TechRepublic)

The Ultimate power plan is best used for applications performing extended calculations or read / write operations. Activities such as rendering 3D images, editing media files, performing complex calculations in an Excel spreadsheet, querying databases, etc., will benefit from the dedicated power resources of the Ultimate diet plan. When you do more mundane tasks on your PC, like replying to emails, the Ultimate Power Plan will waste energy.

Also note that while the Ultimate power plan may help get some extra FPS while gaming, in general, the plan will not significantly help the performance of games. This is because most games bypass power plan settings to boost performance already. In other words, changing your power plan to Ultimate for gaming is often redundant, but it doesn’t hurt to give it a try.

Microsoft wants to modernize existing parts of Windows 10 UX Sun, 13 Jun 2021 21:12:45 +0000

Microsoft is finalizing Windows Sun Valley, also known as “Next Generation Windows,” ahead of its June 24 announcement. As part of that, there have been a number of small design tweaks like rounded corners in the preview. built, but it appears the company is on a mission to “modernize existing parts of Windows UX.”

Windows 10 was announced in 2015 and has improved over the past few years, but much of the interface has remained unchanged from the 2015 redesign. In fact, Windows 10 still uses features / elements from Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP and even Windows 95 user interface.

The redesigned interface for Windows will arrive later this year and the project is internally codenamed “Sun Valley,” and it will be “revolutionary,” according to job postings we spotted last month. According to another job posting we found today, Microsoft now wants to create a new experience that will involve modernizing the existing user interface.

The job offer, which was published in April, States that Microsoft is building “new parts and upgrading existing parts of Windows UX.” To improve the experience, the company conducts user research internally to understand user needs and test various solutions before finalizing the final look.

Microsoft was hiring a senior program manager to define, refine, and deliver a world-class experience. The job listing requires the program manager to “collaborate and partner with Microsoft teams to support the proposed solution.”

The job offer, which is no longer accepting new applications, was published by the team responsible for “building the future of human-machine interaction within Windows”. The team is also responsible for improving interaction experiences in Windows for user interface features such as the start and task bar, touch, voice, snap, and windowing.

Is Microsoft Really Modernizing Windows 10?

Well the answer is, it depends. On the surface, the update to Windows 11 or Sun Valley will appear “modern” and a breath of fresh air. It would be “lovely and iconic,” according to another job posting from Microsoft, which is no longer available at the time of writing.

As part of the redesign, Microsoft will update most of the icons, property tabs, context menu, and other important features with a modern look like dark mode. For example, File Explorer will have rounded corners, new icons, and an appropriate dark mode that matches the design of other Windows apps.

However, Windows Latest understands that Sun Valley’s update will include some older features. You will come across some of these legacy components like icons or pop-ups if you dig enough.
