Microsoft just updated all its Surface devices ahead of Windows 11 launch

Microsoft is preparing for the launch of its Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop Studio, both of which will be dispatched just in time for Windows 11its own version. But if you’re still using an older device, Microsoft just released firmware for Surface Laptop Go, Surface Pro 7, Surface Book 3, and Surface Go 2.

New firmware updates, marked with Wccftech, are intended to strengthen the Windows 10 operating system by improving system performance and stability, as well as fixing critical security vulnerabilities. Each device will receive its own update to address unique security issues.

For example, those with a Surface Pro 7 get firmware update 13.0.1763.7, while those with Surface Laptop Go get version 13.0.1763.7. The Surface Book 3 and Surface Go 2 both receive several firmware updates that will fix a host of Windows 10 issues.

To install a firmware update, just go to Settings, then select Update & Security, then finally Windows Update. After that, restart your device in order to complete the installation. Note, however, that once an update has been installed on one of these devices, it cannot be rolled back to an older version or completely uninstalled.

Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 8, Surface Laptop Studio, and the upcoming Windows 11 are all slated to launch on October 5, and you can pre-order them today. Windows 11 will feature many changes and quality of life improvements including layout, better security, higher application availability, 40% smaller updates, game improvements, and more.
