The organization offers support in five key areas: creativity, workplace, finances, mental well-being and social interaction, and Sameeha has successfully integrated Ubuntu Scotland’s work into primary schools and secondary schools in Glasgow and Lanarkshire to help educate teachers and young people.

It does this in the most disadvantaged areas and partners with community groups to create links between them and the school community. Sameeha works for the organization alongside a full-time job, studying, volunteering and tutoring the children of the relatives.

Sameeha, from Stepps, impressed an esteemed jury with her outstanding contributions to her community.

The Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards aim to recognize and inspire extraordinary young people from across the country who are making a real difference in the lives of others.

Now in its sixteenth year, the awards celebrate youth triumphs in a range of categories – from sport and the environment to business and volunteerism – and spotlight the invaluable contributions made by outstanding young people across the Scotland.

The results will be announced on April 27 at a star-studded red carpet awards ceremony held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

The winners will join a prestigious roll call of previous recipients, including RuPaul’s Drag Race champion Lawrence Chaney and social media star Jamie Genevieve.

Kirsten Urquhart, Managing Director (Acting) at Young Scot, tell us “Sameeha’s inspiring work is a testament to what the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards are all about – recognizing, defending and celebrating the achievements of young Scots.

“Congratulations to all of the 2022 finalists.”
